RobotGrrl writes, I found this email in my inbox about a Robofest team that competed in, and won a challenge in the Robofest! Here is what the coach said:
Much to our surprise, at the second-annual Robofest held in Coaldale, "Team Justice" won the RoboZone Jr. challenge! They have been advanced to the World Robofest 2009 Championship, which will be held at Laurence Technological University, near Detroit, on May 9th. The three boys I coach make up the only team in Western Canada to be advanced. We have started on a website at www.robotclub.ab.ca. We are trying to raise funds to be able to compete. On the site, there is a "Pledgie" link where people can donate funds over the internet.
As of Monday, April 27, the team still needs to raise another $4,165 CAD (I think that's about $3,400 USD). As RobotGrrl says, Robotics teams, events, projects, everything is hard to fund. However, as a community we can all chip in, and collectively it will be enough for them to go, and possibly a few new future Roboticists to arise! :)
