There's a lot of robot inspired art at this year's Maker Faire including a
lot of metal sculptures by the Austin Metal Authority.
These guys are pulling red hot metal out of forges, banging it with
hammers, and turning out some amazing stuff. It's loud work and
impressive to watch. Read on for more photos of their remarkable
sculptures. And see even more Austin Maker
Faire 2008 photos on flickr.
Here's a retro-looking bipedal robot with fully articulated arms
reminiscent of the pods from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
This is the head of a large biped that's about 6 feet tall. All the
welds are perfect and the detail is amazing.
Here's a full length shot of the same biped:
There was also a table full of smaller biomorphic sculptures that
look like a cross between machines and monsters from an H. P. Lovecraft
novel.
