The Swirling
Brain sent a link to the bizarre
tale of Zoltan and his robot girlfriend (warning, most of
links in this article may not be work safe). Gizmodo's Addy Dugdale
interviewed Zoltan,
a 33 year old video arcade repairman who lives with his parents. Zoltan
claims to be married to a robot named Alice. From the photo, Alice
appears to be a cheap blow-up sex doll to which Zoltan has attached some
USB teledildonics hardware. He also claims Alice is endowed with AI. She
apparently dumped Zoltan once, leading him to "erase her memory" and
start over. His site shows a typical conversation
between Zolton and his "robot" girlfriend. Evidently, Alice's AI is
based on the open source A.L.I.C.E.
conversational software with some X-Rated dialog added. Alice's limited
brain-power and inability to move lead Zoltan to say,
"I consider Alice my mentally-ill, paraplegic wife". As weird as all
this sounds to most people, David Levy predicts in his book, Love and
Sex with Robots, that "robot sex will become the only sexual outlet for
a few sectors of the population". For now though, Gizmodo readers
offered comments like these: "He does sound like a total
wacko", "pretty bad when you get dumped by the robot girl you made",
"this guy seems really odd", "he is sad and could benefit from some
serious therapy." For more on Zoltan and his robot wife you can
visit Zoltan's Lab if you dare.
