Talking Robots: Daniel H. Wilson

Posted 6 Jul 2007 at 07:59 UTC by mwaibel Share This

In this episode of Talking Robots, the author of the book How to survive a robot uprising. Tongue in cheek, Daniel H. Wilson shares some valuable lessons learnt during his PhD in robotics for defending yourself against the coming rebellion. Wilson also talks about how ideas from science fiction influence research in robotics and vice versa, and he stops to point out how Hollywood's fondness of the evil robot killing machines (think HAL9000, Terminator and The Matrix) shape public perception - and have inspired him to write his book. As pointed out in a previous post, Wilson is currently working on a - what we hope won't be just another one of these - Hollywood movies. He also talks about his latest book, "Where's My Jetpack?: A Guide to the Amazing Science Fiction Future That Never Arrived".
