Vex is Back!

When Radio Shack discontinued the Vex Robotics Design System, we weren't sure what that meant for the future of Vex (though robot builders appreciated the chance to pick up the kits at half price while they lasted!). Now it appears that Vex is back with stronger backers and improved components. Tom Atwood of Robot Magazine writes, "We met with Revell Monogram at the recent iHobbyExpo show in Chicago and learned that they have partnered with IFI to market a new, enhanced VEX Robotics System." Tom has posted a news release, prototype photo, and more details at Robot Magazine's website. With Revell Monogram and Innovation First, Inc. behind the Vex system it should have a promising future.

All very good and cheaper for people to put it togeather themselves but so far i have not seen that it looks good and saleable and interesting for the market when completed.Unless you are purelt aiming this at the robot builders percentage of the world?.

I would prefer to do/have/get/give a Robosapien RS Media OR Robosapien V2 for christmas etc etc.

Amongst many other robots for sale this xmas,just use google,and especially the Honda Asimo if you have the cash (it must be available everywhere now?)

This sounds like good news. Vex makes a great deal of sense for those who are interested in quickly prototyping hardware. However, I suspect that the VEX market will not heat up very much until after IFI ramps up their VEX competitions.
