Anti-Weed Robots At U of I

Fields at the University of Illinois are using robots to battle weeds by cutting, then applying herbicide as they roam the crop rows. GPS, dual-camera vision, and sonar for navigation; solar panels for power; and a Windows PC with wireless communication for computing.

I have to agree. I love hearing about practical applications of robotics like this. Especially taking the time to figure out autonomous operation like this.
