According to an icNorthWales article, Welsh scientists have developed a robot Welly Wanger. Welly is European slang for a boot and a Wanger is slang for someone who throws things. Welly Wanging is strange sport in some European countries in which participants see who can throw boots the greatest distance. The robot is powered by a Citroen 2CV diesel engine that turns 2 meter spokes at 250 RPM, allow boots to be throw up to 80 meters. The computer controlled robot is design to learn how to throw boots in much the same way that a child learns. The robot was designed and built by Richard Shipman and others at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wales. Photos of the construction and a local newspaper article are also available.
At least its safer than....... "spinning it with a motorcycle" on www.video.google.com........its says the people were not seriously injured on the other original version of the video.
In the UK we refer to this event as "wanging a wan%er".
Also on the same google videos we have a robosapien v2 "wanging" his green balls, its the "robosapein v2 bowling" vid.
