Improving Robot Odometry with an IMU

David P. Anderson of the Dallas Personal Robotics Group has released a new paper describing the integration an Intertial Measurement Unit (IMU) with the navigational algorithms of his outdoor off-road robot, jBot. The paper includes plenty of photos and code samples making it clear how an IMU can be used to improve odometery in a variety of conditions. David's website also includes plenty of video of jBot in action.
