According to a dongA.com new story, the Korean government has honored the fictional Robot Taekwon V with a 30th birthday party held at the Hangaram Design Museum in Seocho-dong, Seoul. The event kicks off a new exhibition at the museum called Moving from Automata to Robots. The robot was a character in a movie of the same name released 30 years ago on July 24, 1976. Apparently, Robot Taekwon V is "56 meters tall, weighs 1,400 tons, and generates 8.95 million kilowatts of power. It walks at 20 to 30 kilometers per hour and can run at 300 kilometers per hour. Its special skill is Taekwondo, a Korean martial art." The movie had been thought lost for many years until a duplicate print was discovered in a warehouse in 2003. A 72 person team spent two years restoring the film. The restored version premiered at an October, 2005 film festival.
