Will the workbench of the future have a PC and a printer instead of a soldering iron and screwdriver? Advances in the printing of electrically conductive polmers and electro-actuated polymers may allow us to download designs and churn them out right on our desktop. Printing of batteries, circuits, antenne, displays, and actuators are in sight. This technology promises not only credit-card-sized cell phones and robot designs via email but also pharmaceuticals, skin tissue, and food!
