South Africa Gears up for National Robot Competition

Adrian S Meyer writes, "My organisation, the National Youth Development Trust of South Africa [NYDT], is setting up a national Robotics Competition for South Africa. The mission of the Africa Cup Robotics Competition is to establish South African students and schoolteachers as globally competitive. It has been designed to complement and enhance other academic challenges and competitions, such as rocketry." The competition will be open to junior level students through college and includes such events familiar events as Robot Soccer, Sumo, Wall Climbing, and Obstacle Races. The first competition will be held in April of 2007 as part of the African Youth Games.
