Store Hires $50k Robot

Jusco department store in Japan has just hired its first robot sales assistant. AEON, owner of Jusco, has used Enons before. The semi-humanoid shaped machine sports a chest-mounted LCD to display product information while carrying 10kg in a bin and 1/2 kg with each arm. A preprogrammed map of the store along with sonar range finders help Enon navigate at a top speed of 3km/hr. Enon, produced by Fujitsu, can also act as a security robot but is not capable of apprehending shoplifters. If $50k seems like an expensive alternative to a human employee, just wait until you hear the work hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm.
