Wear and Failure in Microrobots

Smalltimes has an interesting summary of a Sandia Lab study on the causes of failure in micromachines and microrobots. They found that micro and nano-scale devices are subject to failure from wear and particulate contamination (i.e., dirt) just like larger mechanical devices.
