The CMU Red Team's site visit made the news. A Post-Gazette article provides details on the visit and the performance of the Red Team's Hummer. The robot vehicle navigated the course, avoided a couple of plastic trash cans placed in the path, and earned a round of applause from onlookers. After completing the official test course, the team ran the vehicle over a second test course designed to impress the DARPA officials. The impression given by the article is that "the 40 members of the Red Team, along with sponsors such as Boeing, Caterpillar and AM General" may be able to beat the hobbyists and complete the DARPA Grand Challenge this year.
