According to Open Collector, version 1.0.1 of the gerbv Gerber file viewer has been released. Gerber files are generated by most PCB CAD programs and frequently used by PCB manufacturing houses. The gerbv program supports the latest Gerber RS-274X format including apertures and produces some nice-looking results. Board layers can be independently turned on or off. Originally written for Linux, gerbv now runs on Mac OS X, NetBSD, Solaris, and most other flavors of Unix. The gerbv viewer is Free Software licensed under the GNU GPL. It's also part of the gEDA project which is developing a complete suite of Electronic Design Automation tools.
