Pirkus: Mobile-phone Controlled Robot

Posted 7 Jan 2005 at 17:57 UTC by steve Share This

According to an Ananova story, Japanese companies KDDI and I Bee KK Robot Labs have designed a remote controlled toy humanoid robot, called Pirkus, that is operated from a Toshiba mobile phone using Bluetooth. The system has a range of about 10 meters. The robot can "walk, jump, and wave its hands" and will be available assembled or as a kit. More photos of the robot and mobile phone interface can be found in the product brochure (PDF format) and on the Robot Labs website

Nice looking hardware, posted 11 Jan 2005 at 16:43 UTC by steve » (Master)

I wonder if this robot will be available without the mobile phone setup? If you could get just the chassis and servos, it would make a nice platform to experiment with.
