Roborior: Spooky Robot Pet WatcherPosted 8 Dec 2004 at 17:29 UTC by steve
The Swirling
Brain sent a spooky robot news alert in today. It seems that Tmsuk, the prolific Japanese
robotics company that brought us the dragon robot Banryu, the gun-toting Tmsuk04, and other strange
robots, has now come up with their weirdest robot yet. Roborior is a robot whose design was
inspired
by the appearance of a jellyfish but looks more like a glowing blue and
red alien brain. The glowing brain moves around your house taking care
of the pets (or more likely, making them hide) and looking out for
intruders. This is one robot that doesn't need any weapons. If a burgler
sees a glowing brain coming down a dark hall towards him, he's likely to
die of fright. If it doesn't frighten intruders away by its appearance,
it will call you on your cell phone
and send you photos of your home being robbed. The bizarre robot was
designed by Paul
White of Me Company (whose
angry bunny spewing eggs out of its head Flash website is almost as
weird as Roborior). Tmsuk and Sanyo will be jointly
marketing the Roborior robot.
