Hyperian Catches Some Rays in the Artic

Posted 14 May 2001 at 16:59 UTC by The Swirling Brain Share This

Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania introduces us to Hyperian (also here). Hyperian is a photovore that efficiently seeks out the Sun to power itself. The idea is that the longer it stays in contact with the sun, the longer it can operate. The hope is to have around the clock robots that continually examine other planets and moons. Hyperian will roam Devon Island near the Artic circle as a test ground. Carnegie Mellon also makes the Nomad robot and bunches of other stuff.
