The University of Plymouth and Cranfield University have annoucened plans to develop a new Autononmous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) called Hammerhead. A budget of £500,000 has been granted for the joint project of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency and several commercial interests. The goal is to develop a low-cost AUV that uses AI to combined data from multiple sensors. The current project will focus on tracking and navigation capabilities.
