The Cybot is a robot built from a kit, the pieces of which arrive periodically with a magazine, called Real Robots, containing assembly instructions and robotics articles. Cybots have become very popular in Europe. Ricardo A. Tellez has started Linbot, a project to create the software and hardware needed for a Linux-controlled Cybot. The hardware consists of a PIC controller within the Cybot, additional sensors for odometery, and an RF-link between the Cybot and a Linux PC. Software includes the control program for the PIC and a GTK+ based control program for Linux. The goal of Linbot is to turn Cybots into useful robotics platforms suitable for research and experimentation.
I wonder if it's possible to get the subscription in the USA? Or would it be really expensive? I took a look see but they seem to deal primarily with some of the Commonwealth countried. I would be fun to get all the bits and pieces and put it together and see what it does, etc.
you can try sending to them an email. It's very likely they will release this on the USA market, since they have already done it in other places outside Europe like Japan, and I think, Australia...Just ask them!.
