Toyota Humanoid Robot in the Works
Yahoo says that Japan's top carmaker, Toyota plans to develop a humanoid robot by 2005. Toyota says
they will give more details in January and hopes to display the robot
at a World Exposition tradeshow in 2005. Toyota's robot will be a
worker robot and built for "practical" purposes. A tall order for the
robot includes nurse duties, factory work assistance, and rescue
operations. Toyota even has plans to sell the humanoid robot, unlike
some other Japanese companies that just build humanoid robots as test
platforms and audience entertainers. Toyota even hopes to apply some
